Badminton Tournament 2009
On the 25th October Port Talbot Tigers held a successful 4th Badminton Tournament, sponsored by Corus Group, at the Afan Lido Leisure Centre,
Port Talbot. Teams participated from all over South Wales and as far as London. The aim’s of this event was to encourage BME members to take part in
sporting activities, use local sporting facilities as this type of event is held every year.
This year the event was even greater than previous years with the introduction of both singles and doubles competition. As 12 players participated in the singles and 16 teams of doubles took part in this tournament battling it out for the trophies. There were many distinguish guests such as council members, police leaders, representative from the sponsor Corus Group and many others were present at the tournament as spectators and also to present the trophies to the winner.
The tournament was a huge success and the response we got from participants and spectators were very encouraging.

We would like thank all the distinguish for giving out trophies to the winners, Angela Gullam; Karl Eenmaa, Nia Singleton, Unite Union Bridgend. And distinguished guests for attending and showing the Tigers your support, Chirs Noblett, Cllr Peter Rees, Juli Upcot.Thank you to all the competitors for taking part and putting on a show of high standards for everyone to enjoy. A huge thanks to Corus Group for sponsporing the event, without whom this would not have been possible. A special thanks to Saifur Rahman for agreeing to being the host for the day. Also a special thanks to Rizwan Shams, Nassir Muhammad, and Muttakir Muhammad for helping the committee to organise the event. And also to those who volunteered to be the referee for the matches: Patrick O'Shea, Sayeed Rahman, Misfa Miah, Mizan Miah, Shajahan Muhammad and Oli Kirk.
