About Us
Port Talbot Tigers is a club run and managed by volunteers for the enrichment of the community through sporting activities and social events. In 2003 the Club was officially founded. The Club is currently made up of 60+ members 8 elected committee executives.. The Members represent a diverse range of ethnic backgrounds and faiths including Bangladeshi, Pakistani, Vietnamese, Turkish, Irish, English, Welsh, Scottish, Afro Caribbean, Muslim, Sikh and Christian. Port Talbot Tigers get involved and organise numbers of activities and events to promote integration and better community cohesion. Such as: badminton tournaments, organising annual dinners, day trips and many more. Port Talbot Tigers are always thinking of different activities and events that can be organised to involve wider members of the community.
Our Objective
The Club works with people of all ages and different backgrounds where everyone is encouraged to participate and contribute in all aspects of the Club’s activities. The club aims to help people to stay healthy through exercise and in doing so it keeps the youth off the s treets by providing them activities they enjoy. The added benefit is they are integrating with the local community thereby promoting better race relation, diversity and culture.
Importantly the Club is the focal point of contact for other agencies, organisations and the public sectors that may otherwise find it difficult to target this demographic group. Such as: acting as a focal point for South Wales Police to talk to our members about hate crime and drugs. The Club has registered with Neath Port Talbot Council for Voluntary Service and is hoping to work closely with them on future projects.
In order achieve these aims and objectives the club aims work in partnership with different Voluntary and Statuary Sectors, such as: South Wales Police (Neath Port Talbot), Neath Port Talbot Council for Voluntary Service, Swansea Bay Racial Equality Council, Neath Port Talbot Council, Education Sectors and other Voluntary and Non Voluntary Organisations.
